Ad Specs : Instructions

Instructions

The PDF file format has quickly exploded on to the digital scene as the most preferred format available.The PDF format offers four key benefits. First, it is very easy to create. Adobe Acrobat gives the ad designer control over every setting and then allows one-click creation using those settings. With the addition of PitStop the designer can even preflight the application file before the PDF is made. Second, unlike Application files with all of their fonts and images, the PDF format delivers one single file for the ad. Third, the data in a PDF file is very reliable. With few exceptions, the file you deliver to us is what gets printed in the publication. And finally, this format offers both security and flexibility. Like PostScript files, PDF files are locked and virtually fool proof. However, unlike PostScript files Cadmus is able to fix minor last minute errors with the help of Acrobat. While PDF is preferred, we also support EPS and TIFF at no additional charge.

Material submission requirements

PDF files should be created using Adobe Acrobat 4.05. This site also lists supported applications and general guidelines for submitting TIFF and EPS files. If you need additional help or a question not covered please e-mail queries to digitalads@cadmus.com or contact your account manager and we’ll respond to your needs.

Regardless of the format supplied, the following are required:

  • Ad must be complete and sized at 100%;
  • Document size needs to include necessary bleeds, minimum bleed allowance=1/8” each side;
  • All fonts and graphics must be embedded;
  • Ad must be saved as high resolution for print publication;
  • Color Ad should be submitted as Composite whenever possible
